Mini Quilt Auction – Bid on Unique, Handmade Quilts
What is the Mini Quilt Auction?
The Mini Quilt Auction is a cherished highlight of the Quilt Plano Show, giving attendees the opportunity to view and bid on beautifully crafted mini quilts. Each quilt is a small yet mighty work of art, created and donated by members of the Quilters Guild of Plano. Measuring no more than 24 inches on any side, these quilts make perfect wall hangings, gifts, or collectibles.
Quilting enthusiasts look forward to this auction, not only because of the variety of designs but also because it’s an opportunity to support the guild’s mission. All proceeds from the auction are reinvested into the guild’s educational programs, community outreach projects, and future quilt shows.
You’ll find mini quilts featuring a range of themes, from holiday quilts and nature-inspired designs to abstract patterns and traditional piecing. Whether you’re a collector, a quilter looking for inspiration, or someone who simply loves the art form, this auction offers a chance to own a truly unique piece of handmade art.

Mini Quilt Submission Guidelines
Interested in donating a mini quilt to the auction? We encourage all quilters, regardless of skill level, to submit their best work. The auction is a great way to showcase your talents while supporting a good cause. Here’s what you need to know:
- Size: Quilts should measure no more than 24 inches per side. This ensures that all quilts fit within the auction space and maintain the “mini” theme.
- Quilting: All quilts must be quilted, not tied. Quilts may be machine-quilted, hand-quilted, or even embellished with applique, embroidery, or other decorative techniques.
- Labeling: Each quilt must include a label with the maker’s name, the date, and the quilt title, if applicable. You may also include a short story or description of the quilt, which will be displayed with the quilt at the show.
- Sleeve: A 2-inch sleeve is required for hanging, ensuring that the quilt can be properly displayed.
- Submission Deadline: Mini quilts must be submitted by July 15, 2025 to ensure they are included in the show.
Mini Quilt’s are hand delivered to the monthly Quilters Guild of Plano meetings.
Award-Winning Mini Quilts
In addition to being auctioned off, all mini quilts entered into the auction will be judged by our judges. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and the makers of these quilts will receive special recognition during the show. Past participants have created stunning mini quilts that have gone on to become coveted pieces in private collections.
These awards celebrate the artistry and skill of the quilters, and winning quilts often attract higher bids during the auction.

Behind the Scenes: The Quilters Who Make It All Possible
The quilts featured in the Mini Quilt Auction are donated by members of the Quilters Guild of Plano. These dedicated quilters pour their hearts into each creation, and many have been quilting for decades. Several mini quilts come with a rich backstory, such as being made from vintage fabric collections, scraps from larger quilts, or as part of guild challenges.
One of the unique aspects of the Mini Quilt Auction is the opportunity to meet the quilters in person. Many of them are present at the show, and they are always happy to share their quilting journey, explain their design choices, or offer advice for beginner quilters.
If you’ve ever been curious about the process of creating a quilt or want to learn more about specific quilting techniques, the Mini Quilt Auction is the perfect place to ask questions and gain insight from experienced quilters.
