Letter from the President – Carolyn Cosgriff
April will be a fun meeting as we welcome Rob Appell. Both days of workshops are almost full, testifying to his popularity. It’s bound to be a packed house Thursday night! April is also the evening of the spring apron reveal! Bring your creations to wow us. The April educational demo is how to make vinyl project bags by Carol Esch. And, the April meeting is the last collection day for the Plano ISD Student-aged Parent program. Diapers and other newborn essentials are needed.
May is the traditional Quilt Shop rollout meeting. The volunteer sign-up link will be live by the time you read this. Please sign up early and help reduce the stress levels of our dedicated volunteer leaders. You can change your shift(s) if needed as the date approaches. It is an unenforced expectation that each member will buy or sell $20 worth of raffle tickets. The Guild is again blessed with a striking raffle quilt that sells itself. Pick up your tickets at any Guild meeting.
The popular bones table(s) room is also featured in May. As the Guild budget is rather tight this year, donations will be appreciated for any items you take for your personal use.
The website is an ongoing project. Stacey Procter, our media VP, is working hard to make the website easier to use. And, she is moving some dated information and pictures off the website into archive storage. If you are struggling to find pre-2022 information, please contact me. The quilts from quilt shows continue to be on the website.

Help needed:
2028 Raffle Quilt. Top needs to be finished by May, 2027 to allow time for quilting and entry into the 2027 show. Contact me to have your ideas vetted by the committee.
The Raffle Quilt ticket table banner is MIA. If anyone has it or knows where it is stored, please notify Carol at ShowChair@qgplano.org

While we are looking ahead, it’s time to start thinking about the 2027-28 leadership. If you might be interested in serving on the nominating committee or the Board, please contact me. There are many roles involved in keeping our guild vibrant. The nominating committee is a short-term project and a great way to meet people.
Please email president@qgplano.org if interested in learning more.

Quilt Plano Show 2026 — Carol Truscott
August 14-15, 2026!
WOW!!
So many wonderful things are happening behind the scenes for our QP26 Show!!
Where do I start??
4/1-Volunteer sign up opens
4/1- Online admission ticket sales are open.
4/1-Special Exhibits entries are open
Quilt entries are open, remember that entries will close at midnight on May 14th.
Thinking of Raffle tickets – if every member purchases $20.00 of raffle tickets, our guild could make over $6,000. That money goes straight back into our guild to fund Programs and Community Service, just to name a few.
There are a handful of T-Shirts left.
Look how cute this mini quilt is!! Who remembers how many mini quilts Kaye said we need for April????

To honor the Semiquincentennial Celebration of the United States, the Quilters Guild of Plano will feature a special judged category for the Quilt Plano 2026 show sponsored by the James Billingsley Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Quilt entries must clearly exhibit a CELEBRATION of the 250th Anniversary
of America’s Liberty. Dazzle us with your patriotism, letting your love of
quilting and America merge into a quilt that will honor the United States of
America’s history and citizens! Inspiration for these entries will include
patriotic themes, events in American History (any period since the
Revolutionary War), national milestones or achievements, quilts of valor, civil
war replica quilts, and an expression of the maker’s love for our country.
For questions, additional information, or shipping instructions, please call or email Show Entries Chair – Tisha Harms showregistration@qgplano.org or tisha.harms@gmail.com or 214-316-5066 (cell).
Coming in May-
~Meal tickets and 2026 Show pins for sale
~Announcement of this years “Feature Quilter” and pin presentation
~Presentation of Show Chair Pin
We have lots of opportunities to help with our 2026 Quilt Show. Let me know if you are interested in working behind the senses as we move forward.

Community Service – Jeanne Vogel and Susie Luttrell

The guild meeting on April 9 will be the last opportunity to donate items for students who are expecting while completing their high school education. We welcome donations of: Diapers, Quilts and any newborn essentials. Please bring items to the Community Service table so they can be delivered before the spring semester concludes.
March Giving Highlights
Thanks to your generosity, our guild made a meaningful impact in March:
-
15 quilts and pillowcases donated to Plano Community Homes

15 youth-sized quilts and pillowcases donated to the Children’s Advocacy Center.
-
A large bundle of 3” squares was given to member, Barb Washler to take to San Antonio where they are sent to the women in Honduras: One Common Thread.
Your continued support truly makes a difference in our community.
At the March meeting, the creativity and display of the finished tops from everyone who participated in the Guild Activity Shop: Bag or Roll was inspiring! Thank you!
Backing Cut Day Success–March 16
We gathered all completed quilt tops and paired them with backing from our fabric stash. A special thank-you to: Carolyn Dillon, Cari Dooley, Melinda Segal and Dena Smith.
Batting Cut Day Success – March 23
Volunteers met at Ready, Set, Quilt quilt shop to prepare batting for donated quilt tops.
A heartfelt thank-you to Tom DeMoss for providing: Workspace, irons, tables and batting cutting motorized blades. We cut through scraps and rolls of batting, preparing quilts for long-arming. Our thanks to members–Beth Ables, Cari Dooley, Laura Schwatz, Linda Benson, Lorelle Chambers, Nancy Simpson, and Val Schlake for a day full of working– sewing backs together/squaring them and cutting batting & bindings.

2026 Quilt Retreat Recap — And Why You Won’t Want to Miss the Next One!
What happens when 56 creative quilters gather for four days of laughter, inspiration, fabric-fueled fun, and maybe just a little mischief? Another unforgettable Quilters Guild of Plano Retreat at Tanglewood Resort!
Home A La Mode Pop‑Up Shop once again wowed retreaters with a wonderful selection and helpful staff—and they reported it was a great show on their end too. It’s always a treat to have a quilt shop steps away from your machine! And their prices were delightful! The Friday night games were a huge hit—short, sweet, and full of laughter. Door prizes were plentiful and well organized, making winners out of lots of happy retreaters. Mike and Mistey did a fantastic job managing the drawings and have already volunteered to help again next year! This year’s Community Service project—a beautifully coordinated string quilt—was a highlight for many. Beth’s prep work made participation easy, and seeing the top come together was incredibly rewarding. Several retreaters suggested turning this into a prize opportunity in the future—great idea! Saturday night’s Show & Tell didn’t disappoint. Nearly everyone had something special to share, and the creativity on display was inspiring.

We loved reading the comments left in the retreat notebook:
“We had a great time. Very nice space for sewing.”
“Quilters were friendly and charming—thank you for a fun retreat!”
“Loved the games—short and sweet and made me laugh!”
“The community service project was fun and easy to jump into between my own projects.”
“Big thank you to those who left Quilty ‘hug’ fat quarters!”
“Worth taking PTO for!”
This retreat wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our six‑member volunteer team:
-
Rose Davis, Chair
-
Linda Sullivan, Resort Liaison
-
Jeanne Fletcher, Treasurer
-
Beth Swiatek, Games & Community Project
-
Beth Bailey, Welcome Materials & Registration
-
Carole Robertson, Registration & Bones Table
If you would like a relaxing, peaceful extended weekend of sewing and fellowship mark you calendars for February/March 2027. And if you just can’t wait and want to be part of the magic.. we are looking for members of the 2027 retreat committee.
Next year’s retreat committee will need:
· A chair or co‑chairs
· A hotel liaison
· Registration/welcome coordinators
· Games/activity planners
· Community project leaders
· Door prize coordinators
Reach out to Donna Allenbaugh if you are interested in being on the committee.
